Résumé
OpenStack packaging for Debian GNU/Linux : an effort to make it work out of the box
The OpenStack code base is ambitious and moving fast. There are dozens of developers working on more than ten essential software components interacting together. They are challenged to stabilize a new, feature rich solution in 2012. Trying to package OpenStack for Debian GNU/Linux required a lot of work in the past year. It not only involved contributing a number of patches upstream but also to decide for a packaging method matching the Debian GNU/Linux standards. By all means it was like chasing a moving target and this talks will tell the story behind it, mostly in technical terms. It will hopefully inspire packagers to join the team and contribute to the first stable and ready to use OpenStack set of packages for Debian GNU/Linux.
